After a long wait, Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 7.0 update based on Android 15 for the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The update is currently rolling out in South Korea for beta users and is likely to expand to other markets in the coming hours or days.

The new software version has the end code BYCK and is over 400MB in size. In addition to the April 2025 security patch, One UI 7.0 brings many notable changes: a redesigned interface, smoother animations, and a series of new features that have appeared on the One UI 7 beta for the Galaxy S24 series.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 was launched with Android 14 and One UI 6.1.1. With One UI 7.0, this is the first major OS upgrade of a total of seven updates that the device will receive as part of Samsung’s long-term software commitment.

One UI 7.0 brings a new look to the notification panel and quick panel. These two areas now appear on separate pages, allowing for deeper customization of the placement of quick settings icons, and the volume control bar is also integrated into the panel.

Notifications have been refreshed with a pill-shaped design, larger icons, and a stack layout. The interface of all default apps and app icons has also been updated to be more vivid. Home screen widgets have a new rounded design and more personalization options, including adjusting the shape, background, and transparency. Users can also hide or show app names and widgets on the home screen.

Multitasking has been upgraded with a three-dimensional look for app cards and new transition effects. Folders on the home screen can be enlarged to quickly open apps without having to access the folder. The lock screen also has more widgets, including a customizable clock font.

The highlight is the Now Bar, a smart display bar that allows users to track information relevant to the time of day and personal schedule. This bar can display sports scores, music controls, a stopwatch, Google Maps navigation, workout status from Samsung Health, and more. The Now Bar appears as a pill-shaped interface on the status bar and below the lock screen.

The default camera app interface has also been completely redesigned, with controls moved to the bottom edge for easier one-handed operation. Samsung has also added smoother animations throughout the system, including when charging.

Galaxy AI is more deeply integrated with advanced features. Writing Assist can improve grammar, tone, formatting or summarize text. Users can also easily convert voice calls to text.

The Modes and Routines menus have been improved with the ability to use “If-Else” conditions. Users can group alarms, set a common volume for each group, and easily move events between days or accounts in the Calendar app.

Quick Share now supports sending files even when the recipient is outside of direct Wi-Fi coverage. Security and battery protection options have also been upgraded, making the device more durable and secure over time.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 users can check for updates by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. The update may not appear to everyone right away as the rollout is rolling out in batches. However, this is a clear sign that One UI 7.0 is officially ready and will soon reach all users.
