Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has said that the one million-strong Pakistani-American community is the most enduring link in Pakistan-U.S. relations.

Speaking to U.S. policymakers, diplomats, and members of the business community, Ambassador Sheikh invited American investors to explore the economic opportunities in Pakistan, especially in the rapidly growing IT sector.

He noted that Pakistan offers IT services that are 70% more cost-effective than in the U.S. while maintaining high quality, making it a win-win area for bilateral cooperation. “Strengthening collaboration in the technology sector can greatly benefit both nations,” he said.

The Ambassador further highlighted that the U.S.-Pakistan trade deficit is relatively low and manageable. He pointed out that Pakistan is the largest importer of American cotton and also imports soybeans from the United States. With its strategic location, Pakistan can also serve as a regional trade hub.

“Over 80 American companies are operating successfully in Pakistan, which is a strong testament to the country’s profitable and growing market,” he said, adding that providing a business-friendly environment remains a top priority of the Pakistani government.

Commenting on regional tensions, Ambassador Sheikh said that India resorted to provocations at a time when Pakistan was making significant economic progress. “As a nation, we take pride in our effective response to Indian aggression, but peace remains our top priority as it paves the way for economic development,” he stressed.

He acknowledged the key role played by U.S. leadership in facilitating the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability.
