Samsung delayed One UI 7 release, will One UI 8 be on time?

Samsung is facing a lot of criticism due to the delay in the rollout of One UI 7 based on Android 15. The stable update has not been released yet, and many rumors suggest that One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 may have been canceled. This has left many Galaxy users disappointed as they have been waiting for so long without any official announcement from Samsung. However, it seems that this is just a special case due to the scale of this update, and the company may return to its normal schedule with One UI 8, based on Android 16.

According to many recent reports, Samsung is planning to release One UI 8 on time, without the delays that One UI 7 faced. Some sources say that the stable version of One UI 8 may be released around October or November this year, following the cycle of One UI 6 before. One UI 8.1 will then be introduced alongside the Galaxy S26 series in January 2026, followed by One UI 8.1.1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 in June or July 2026. If true, Samsung will be getting back on track with its software updates after the troubles of One UI 7.

Samsung is currently in the beta testing phase for One UI 7 on the Galaxy S24 series. While there was hope that the stable update would be released in March, some sources have suggested that the schedule could be pushed back to May – up to six months later than One UI 6.0. This is disappointing, especially since the Galaxy S25 series launched with One UI 7.0 instead of One UI 7.1. Recent reports also suggest that Samsung may skip One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1, instead releasing One UI 7.0.1 to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, a much smaller update than One UI 6.1.1.

With the delay of One UI 7, Samsung is losing the trust of users who have become accustomed to its rapid update schedule in recent years. If One UI 8 continues to be delayed or suffers similar issues, it could affect the company’s reputation, especially when competitors like Google and Apple are still maintaining a steady update cycle. Google has already started testing two public betas of Android 16 and is expected to release a stable version in June.

All eyes are now on Samsung to see if it can fix the problems of One UI 7 and get One UI 8 back on schedule. If the company can release One UI 8 by the end of this year without any delays, it will help regain the trust of users. However, if the problems of One UI 7 continue to repeat, Samsung could face a bigger backlash. We will have to wait and see if the company can keep its commitment to its update schedule.
