Samsung Galaxy Buds On Debut With Clip-On Design and 9.5-Hour Battery
Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Buds On, its first wireless earbuds to feature a clip-on, open-ear design. Unlike traditional Galaxy Buds that sit inside the ear canal, the new model rests around the ear while keeping the ear canal open.
The new design is aimed particularly at people who want to listen to music or make calls while remaining aware of their surroundings during activities such as walking and running. Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Buds On on October 1, 2026.

A New Clip-On Design
The Galaxy Buds On represent a major design change for Samsung's wireless-earbud lineup. Instead of inserting the earbuds into the ear, users wear them by placing the clip around the outer ear.
Samsung says it analyzed data from different ear shapes and used simulations to optimize the placement of the speakers and batteries. The larger contact area is designed to distribute pressure more evenly, while the flexibility of the clip helps keep the earbuds securely positioned during movement.
Because the ear canal remains open, users can continue hearing environmental sounds while listening to audio. This makes the design particularly suitable for outdoor activities where awareness of nearby people, vehicles and other surroundings can be important.
TwinBoost Speakers and Audio Leakage Reduction
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Buds On with TwinBoost speakers designed to improve low-frequency performance despite the open-ear design.
The earbuds also feature automatic volume adjustment that can respond to the surrounding environment. Another notable addition is Audio Leakage Reduction, which is designed to minimize the amount of sound escaping from the earbuds and being heard by people nearby.
The Galaxy Buds On are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform and use a high-efficiency Class-D amplifier.
Up to 9.5 Hours of Playback
Battery life is another highlight of the new earbuds. Samsung claims the Galaxy Buds On can deliver up to 9.5 hours of continuous playback on a single charge.
The combination of the Snapdragon audio platform and power-efficient amplifier is intended to help the earbuds provide longer listening sessions while maintaining the lightweight clip-on form factor.
Improved Calling Technology
Samsung is also focusing on call quality with the Galaxy Buds On.
The earbuds use three microphones, a bone-conduction-based voice pickup sensor and machine-learning technology as part of Samsung's Intelligent Clear Call system.
The technology is designed to distinguish the user's voice from surrounding noise, helping improve voice clarity during calls in noisy environments.
Galaxy AI and Gemini Live Features
The Galaxy Buds On aren't limited to music and calls. When paired with compatible Galaxy smartphones or tablets, they can also provide access to several AI-powered features.
Users can launch Gemini Live through voice commands, allowing them to interact with Google's AI assistant without having to pick up their smartphone.
Samsung has also added a Quick Voice Memo feature. Users can long-press the touch area to record a voice memo, while Bixby can later help search through those recordings on compatible Galaxy devices.
Head Gestures Add Hands-Free Controls
Another interesting feature is Head Gestures.
The Galaxy Buds On can recognize certain head movements, allowing users to perform actions without touching their phone or earbuds. For example, users can nod to answer a call or shake their head to reject one.
The gesture system can also be used for functions such as dismissing alarms and checking notifications, providing an additional hands-free control option.
Price and Availability
Samsung will initially launch the Galaxy Buds On in South Korea on October 27, 2026.
The earbuds will cost KRW 299,000, which is approximately $220 based on current exchange rates. Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Buds On will expand to additional international markets, although specific release dates and regional pricing have not yet been announced.
