Siri AI Could Finally Arrive on EU iPhones in 2027: Here’s What We Know
Apple's highly anticipated Siri AI has arrived with iOS 27, but iPhone and iPad users in the European Union are still waiting for access to the company's revamped AI assistant.
Apple confirmed earlier this year that Siri AI would not be available on iPhone or iPad in the EU when iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 launched. The company cited difficulties related to the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA) and said it had no confirmed timeline for bringing the features to the region.
Now, a new report suggests that EU users may have to wait several more months before the upgraded Siri becomes available.
Siri AI May Reach the EU Months After Global Launch
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, as reported by GSMArena, Apple could bring Siri AI to European iPhone users at least five months after its initial release.
That means EU customers may not get the full Siri AI experience until sometime in 2027, although Apple has yet to provide a specific release date. The reported timeline should therefore be considered a prediction rather than an official launch schedule.
The delay is particularly significant because Siri AI is one of the headline features of Apple's latest software generation.
Why Is Siri AI Delayed in the EU?
The main issue is Apple's obligations under the Digital Markets Act.
The EU's regulations require certain large technology platforms to provide greater interoperability and fair access for competing services. In the case of Siri AI, Apple has raised concerns about the privacy and security implications of giving rival AI assistants access to capabilities and system information that Siri can use.
Apple previously said that European regulators had not accepted its proposed solutions for safely bringing Siri AI to iPhone and iPad users in the EU.
European regulators, however, have disputed Apple's explanation. The European Commission rejected Apple's request for an extended exemption, arguing that the company had not made its AI assistant compliant with the applicable rules.
What Does the New Siri AI Offer?
The new Siri represents a major change from Apple's traditional voice assistant.
Siri AI is designed to understand more natural conversations and maintain context between requests. It can also interact more deeply with information on an iPhone, including personal content and on-screen information.
Apple's new assistant is intended to provide more useful answers and perform actions across apps, making Siri more comparable to modern AI assistants.
The upgraded experience is part of Apple's broader Apple Intelligence strategy.
EU Users Are Not Completely Locked Out
The regional restrictions do not apply equally across all Apple devices.
Apple has confirmed that users in the EU can access Siri AI on macOS 27 and visionOS 27. The restriction primarily affects iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, with watchOS access dependent on an iPhone that supports Siri AI.
This means an EU user with a compatible Mac can already experience some of Apple's newer AI-powered Siri capabilities even though the same features remain unavailable on an iPhone.
Additional Siri AI Languages Are Rolling Out
Apple is also expanding Siri AI's language support.
The initial rollout focused on English, while additional languages including French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean have been added through Apple's software testing and rollout process.
However, language availability and regional availability are separate issues. Adding a supported language does not automatically make Siri AI available on iPhones and iPads in the EU.

When Could EU iPhone Users Get Siri AI?
At this point, there is no confirmed release date from Apple.
Based on the latest report, European iPhone users could potentially receive Siri AI several months after the initial rollout, meaning 2027 is a realistic possibility.
However, the actual launch could depend on Apple's discussions with European regulators and the company's ability to satisfy the DMA requirements while maintaining its privacy and security standards.
Final Thoughts
Siri AI is one of Apple's biggest software upgrades in years, but European iPhone and iPad users are currently being left out of the rollout.
Apple continues to work on a solution with EU regulators, but neither side has provided a definitive date for iOS and iPadOS users. If the latest reports are accurate, EU customers may have to wait until 2027 before the new Siri becomes available.
Until Apple officially announces a release date, the rumored timeline should be treated cautiously.
