ASRock DeskSlim Packs Desktop CPUs and Discrete GPUs Into a 5L Mini PC
ASRock has introduced its DeskSlim X600 and DeskSlim B760, compact desktop platforms designed to deliver considerably more performance and expandability than typical mini PCs.
Despite measuring just 4.9 liters, the DeskSlim systems support socketed desktop processors, four DDR5 memory slots and a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for a discrete low-profile graphics card. This makes the machines suitable for everything from office workloads and content creation to gaming, 3D applications and local AI workloads.
Two Platforms for AMD and Intel CPUs
ASRock offers the DeskSlim in two main configurations.
The DeskSlim X600 is built around AMD's AM5 platform and supports Ryzen 7000, Ryzen 8000 and Ryzen 9000 desktop processors with CPU support up to 120W.
The DeskSlim B760, meanwhile, uses Intel's LGA1700 socket and supports 12th-, 13th- and 14th-generation Core desktop processors with CPUs rated up to 125W.
Unlike many compact PCs that use soldered laptop processors, these systems allow users to select and upgrade compatible desktop CPUs.
Four DDR5 DIMM Slots
Another unusual feature for a PC this small is its memory configuration.
Both DeskSlim models include four standard DDR5 DIMM slots and support up to 256GB of RAM. The AMD X600 model supports memory speeds up to DDR5-7200+ through overclocking, while the Intel B760 version also supports speeds up to DDR5-7200+ with compatible processors and memory.
Using full-size DIMMs rather than laptop-style SO-DIMMs provides users with greater memory capacity and upgrade flexibility.
Discrete Graphics in a 5L Chassis
The biggest attraction may be the inclusion of a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for a discrete graphics card.
The compact chassis can accommodate a low-profile, dual-slot GPU measuring up to:
- 200mm long
- 70mm high
- 38mm thick
- Up to a 6mm backplate
This gives the DeskSlim considerably more graphics capability than conventional mini PCs that rely solely on integrated graphics.
ASRock specifically lists support for professional NVIDIA RTX PRO 4000 Blackwell SFF Edition and RTX PRO 2000 Blackwell graphics cards.
Suitable for Gaming and AI Workloads
The DeskSlim isn't limited to business applications.
ASRock says the X600 platform can also be configured as a compact gaming PC, with SteamOS support highlighted by the company. The combination of a desktop Ryzen processor and discrete graphics makes the system suitable for gaming, although GPU selection is constrained by the low-profile form factor.
The systems can also be used for professional applications such as:
- Local AI inference
- Content creation
- 3D visualization
- CAD
- Engineering software
- Data analysis
- Multi-display productivity
ASRock is particularly positioning the RTX PRO-equipped configurations toward professional and AI-assisted workloads.
Storage Options
The two DeskSlim models offer multiple storage possibilities.
The X600 provides two SATA 6Gb/s ports, one PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 slot and one PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slot.
The B760 includes two SATA 6Gb/s ports and two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots.
This allows users to combine fast NVMe storage with additional SATA-based drives.
Compact 4.9-Liter Design
The DeskSlim chassis measures 95 × 235 × 220mm, giving it a volume of approximately 4.9 liters.
That is considerably smaller than a conventional desktop PC while still retaining desktop-style CPU sockets, four DIMM slots and a full PCIe expansion slot.
The compact design also allows the system to be mounted behind a monitor using VESA mounting hardware, making it suitable for desks where space is limited.
External Power Adapter Keeps the Chassis Small
ASRock uses an external power adapter to help keep the DeskSlim enclosure compact.
The systems are designed around a 240W 19V adapter, with an optional 330W adapter available. The external power supply also helps free up internal space for the CPU, storage and graphics hardware.
However, the available power means users will need to pay attention to their choice of discrete GPU and overall system configuration.
Fast Networking and Extensive Connectivity
Both DeskSlim platforms include 2.5Gb Ethernet, providing faster wired networking than standard Gigabit Ethernet.
The X600 also provides USB4 connectivity, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, while the B760 offers HDMI and dual DisplayPort outputs. Both systems include multiple USB Type-A and Type-C ports for peripherals.
Wireless connectivity can be added through an M.2 2230 slot for a compatible Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module.

A Different Approach to Mini PCs
The DeskSlim series stands out because it doesn't follow the usual mini-PC formula.
Many ultra-compact systems use mobile processors, soldered memory and integrated graphics. ASRock instead has attempted to retain several features associated with traditional desktop computers while dramatically reducing the physical footprint.
The result is a machine that offers desktop CPU selection, upgradeable memory and discrete GPU support in a chassis smaller than many gaming PCs.

Availability
ASRock says the DeskSlim X600 and DeskSlim B760 are available through its global distribution network, although availability can vary depending on region.
Pricing can also depend on the selected configuration, particularly because the DeskSlim platform is designed to accommodate user-selected processors, memory, storage and graphics cards.
Final Thoughts
The ASRock DeskSlim demonstrates how much desktop hardware can now fit into a remarkably small enclosure.
With support for up to 125W desktop CPUs, four DDR5 DIMM slots, 256GB of memory and a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for low-profile discrete graphics, the 4.9-liter system offers far more flexibility than many conventional mini PCs.
The X600 is particularly interesting for AMD Ryzen users and compact gaming builds, while the B760 provides an Intel-based alternative. With support for professional NVIDIA RTX PRO Blackwell graphics, the platform can also serve as a compact workstation for AI, CAD, 3D and content-creation workloads.
For users who want desktop-class expandability without dedicating a large amount of desk space, ASRock's DeskSlim could be one of the more interesting compact PC platforms to watch.
