Global digital operator VEON has increased its planned investment in Pakistan from $1 billion to $1.5 billion over the next three years, according to Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The minister announced the development during a virtual address at the SDGs Investment Fair 2026, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Pakistan in Karachi. He described the increase as a significant development for Pakistan’s digital economy.

VEON Raises Planned Investment in Pakistan to $1.5 Billion
VEON had announced plans earlier this year to invest $1 billion in Pakistan over the next three years. The company has now raised the expected investment by another $500 million, bringing the total planned investment to $1.5 billion.
According to Aurangzeb, the additional investment is expected to support further development in digital connectivity, infrastructure, and digital services in Pakistan. The increased commitment could also create opportunities for expansion across the country’s digital ecosystem.
The finance minister said growing interest from foreign investors reflects increasing confidence in Pakistan’s investment opportunities. He added that the government considers the private sector and investors important partners in efforts to move the economy toward sustainable growth.
VEON operates in Pakistan through Jazz, one of the country’s major telecommunications and digital services providers. The company’s increased investment plan comes as Pakistan continues to focus on improving digital connectivity and expanding technology-based services.
The additional $500 million commitment also highlights the growing role of digital infrastructure in Pakistan’s broader economic development plans. Investment in connectivity and digital services can support businesses, consumers, and other sectors that increasingly depend on reliable digital networks.
The government is seeking to attract more foreign investment while encouraging private-sector participation in key areas of the economy. VEON’s revised investment plan adds to these efforts and could provide further support for Pakistan’s digital infrastructure and services in the coming years.
