Apple HomeView Smart Home Hub: Apple’s Biggest Smart Home Push Yet
Apple is preparing to unveil a new smart home hub called HomeView, marking one of the company’s biggest efforts yet to build a more complete smart home ecosystem.
According to reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is expected to introduce HomeView at its “Welcome Home” event on October 13, 2026. The device is designed to act as a central control point for an Apple-powered smart home, with Siri playing a major role in the experience.
What Is Apple HomeView?
The HomeView is reportedly a smart home display powered by an A18 chip. Rather than functioning like a traditional tablet, the device is expected to focus primarily on controlling smart home products and interacting with Siri.
The touchscreen will support touch controls, but Apple reportedly wants voice interaction to remain at the center of the experience.
Unlike an iPad, HomeView is not expected to offer a full App Store. Instead, it will support a limited selection of Apple applications and focus on smart home controls through Apple's Home ecosystem.
Two HomeView Models Expected
Apple is reportedly planning two versions of the HomeView.
The first will be a countertop model featuring a metal speaker base. It is expected to be offered in Space Gray, Silver, Starlight and Pink.
The second version will be designed for wall mounting, featuring a flatter square base. This model is reportedly expected to come in Space Gray and Silver.
The countertop model is also expected to provide stronger audio than the upcoming HomePod mini.
Siri Will Be at the Center
One of the key purposes of HomeView will be to make Siri the command center for the smart home.
Users could potentially use voice commands to control compatible lights, cameras, thermostats, locks and other connected devices. Apple is also expected to integrate the device closely with the Home app and other Apple products.
The name “HomeView” reportedly reflects Apple's vision for the product: a display that users can look at and control primarily through voice rather than a tablet-style device.
Apple and LG Building a Smart Home Ecosystem
Apple is also reportedly working with LG to expand the number of compatible smart home products.
The reported lineup includes smart doorbells, deadbolt locks, thermostats, indoor and outdoor security cameras, floodlight cameras and temperature sensors.
This partnership could help Apple offer a more complete smart home ecosystem without manufacturing every accessory itself.
HomeView Release Date
Apple is expected to announce HomeView during its October 13, 2026 “Welcome Home” event.
However, the device reportedly won't reach stores immediately. Current reports suggest that HomeView could become available around mid-November 2026.
Apple is also expected to introduce updated versions of the Apple TV and HomePod mini, with those products reportedly arriving earlier, around October 30.
A New Direction for Apple's Smart Home
HomeView could represent Apple's most serious attempt yet to compete in the smart home market.
The company has previously relied heavily on HomeKit, HomePod and the Home app, but Apple's smart home platform has not achieved the same level of adoption as some competing ecosystems.
By combining a dedicated display, Siri, Apple silicon and a growing range of third-party accessories, HomeView could give Apple users a much easier way to manage their connected homes.
Final Thoughts
Apple HomeView appears to be more than a new smart display. It could become the central control system for Apple's future smart home ecosystem.
With an A18 chip, touchscreen interface, Siri integration, multiple hardware designs and support for third-party smart home accessories, HomeView will be one of Apple's most interesting new products to watch in 2026.
Apple is expected to reveal the device officially on October 13, so more details about its specifications, pricing and availability should become clear very soon.
