Star Wars Jedi 3 Is Far Into Development, Reveal Could Be Coming Soon
Star Wars fans may finally be getting closer to seeing the next chapter in Cal Kestis' story.
Respawn Entertainment is developing the third game in its Star Wars Jedi series, and new reporting suggests the project is already far into development. The game has not yet been officially revealed, but recent comments from Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier suggest an announcement could be getting closer.
The third installment is expected to serve as the conclusion to the Jedi trilogy that began with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in 2019 and continued with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in 2023.
However, fans should be careful with some of the details circulating online. While the existence of the game is confirmed, its release date, official title, gameplay and reveal plans have not been announced by EA or Respawn.
Star Wars Jedi 3 Is Officially in Development
The biggest piece of confirmed information came from EA in 2024.
During EA's Investor Day presentation, the company confirmed that Respawn was working on the final chapter of the Star Wars Jedi story.
EA described the game as the final chapter of Cal Kestis' story, confirming that the popular Jedi protagonist will return for another adventure. Respawn developed both previous games, making it the natural studio to complete the trilogy.
EA has not yet announced the game's official name. For now, most fans and publications simply refer to it as Star Wars Jedi 3.
The Game Is Reportedly Far Into Development
The latest development comes from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier.
Following recent reporting about EA's decision-making around its Star Wars projects, Schreier stated that Jedi 3 is far into development, while the reported Battlefront 3 project has not even started.
That distinction is significant because it suggests Respawn's Jedi project is considerably further along than some other major Star Wars games being discussed at EA.
Schreier has also indicated that Jedi 3 should be officially announced soon, although neither EA nor Respawn has announced a reveal date.
Could Star Wars Jedi 3 Be Revealed in 2026?
This is where confirmed information ends and speculation begins.
A Star Wars insider previously claimed that the third Jedi game could be revealed before the end of 2026, potentially ahead of The Game Awards on December 10, 2026.
The same claim suggested a 2027 release.
However, those details have not been confirmed by EA, Respawn or Lucasfilm Games. They should therefore be treated as rumors rather than an official release plan.
The possibility of a reveal later this year is certainly believable given the game's reported development progress, but fans should wait for an official announcement before treating any date as final.
Cal Kestis Is Expected to Return
Cal Kestis remains at the center of the Jedi trilogy.
The character was introduced in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order as a former Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66. In Jedi: Survivor, Cal had become more experienced while continuing his fight against the Empire.
EA's description of the upcoming game as the final chapter of Cal's story strongly suggests that the character will once again be the main focus.
There have also been reports that the new game could feature an older version of Cal. Insider Gaming previously reported that an older Cal Kestis was part of information it had heard about the project.
That could potentially mean another significant time jump after Jedi: Survivor, although this has not been officially confirmed.

What Could the Story Be About?
Respawn has not revealed the story for the third game.
That leaves plenty of unanswered questions following the events of Jedi: Survivor.
Cal's relationship with the Force, the future of the Hidden Path and the fate of the characters introduced in the previous game could all become important parts of the final chapter.
A time jump could also allow Respawn to explore a significantly different stage of Cal's life.
For now, however, there is no official story synopsis, trailer or gameplay footage to confirm how the narrative will unfold.
Stig Asmussen Will Not Direct the Third Game
One major change behind the scenes is the departure of Stig Asmussen.
Asmussen directed both Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor. He left Respawn in 2023 and later started his own game studio.
Before leaving Respawn, Asmussen had spoken about his desire to make the Jedi games a trilogy.
EA subsequently confirmed that veteran Respawn leadership would continue guiding the project.
His absence means the third game will have a different creative leadership structure compared with the first two installments.
When Could Star Wars Jedi 3 Release?
There is currently no official release date for Star Wars Jedi 3.
A 2027 launch has been reported by several outlets based on insider claims, but neither EA nor Respawn has confirmed that year as the game's release window.
If the project is genuinely far into development, a 2027 launch would not be surprising. But development schedules can change, especially for a major AAA game.
Until EA announces a date, 2027 should be considered a possibility rather than a guarantee.
What Platforms Will It Support?
EA has not officially announced the platforms for Star Wars Jedi 3.
Because the game is still awaiting its public reveal, there is currently no confirmed platform list, system requirements or performance information.
The previous game launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with PS4 and Xbox One versions arriving later.
More information should become available when Respawn and EA officially unveil the new game.
The Wait for Jedi 3 May Finally Be Ending
Star Wars Jedi 3 has been one of the most anticipated unannounced games in development.
What we know for certain is that Respawn is making the final chapter of the Jedi trilogy and that Cal Kestis' story is expected to continue. New reporting now suggests the project is already far into development.
What remains uncertain is almost everything else, including the official title, release date, platforms, story and first trailer.
A 2027 release and a possible reveal before the end of 2026 are increasingly being discussed, but those details remain unconfirmed.
If Respawn really is preparing to show the game soon, Star Wars fans may not have to wait much longer for their first official look at Cal Kestis' final adventure.
