GTA 6 Launch Trailer Reveals More About Jason, Lucia and Vice City

Rockstar Games has released the official launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, giving fans another major look at the highly anticipated open-world game ahead of its November release.

The 90-second trailer focuses heavily on Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, while also showing new action sequences, locations and story details from the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar says the trailer was captured entirely from in-game footage running on a PlayStation 5.

The new footage adds more context to Jason and Lucia's relationship and hints at the dangerous criminal conspiracy that will drive much of the game's story.

Jason’s Past Gets More Attention

One of the most interesting parts of the trailer is the additional information about Jason's background.

The footage suggests that Jason has a military past, with scenes showing him involved in what appears to be a coordinated weapons operation. This could indicate that his previous experience will play an important role in the game's missions or story.

Rockstar has not revealed every detail about Jason's history, leaving plenty of room for speculation about how his past connects to the events of GTA 6.

Lucia’s Story Begins Behind Bars

The trailer also provides more evidence about Lucia's circumstances at the beginning of the game.

Lucia is shown in prison before eventually reconnecting with Jason. In later footage, she can also be seen wearing an ankle monitor, suggesting that her freedom may initially be subject to restrictions.

Her background and relationship with Jason appear to be central elements of the GTA 6 story.

Jason and Lucia Face a Criminal Conspiracy

According to Rockstar's official description, Jason and Lucia find themselves caught in a criminal conspiracy across Leonida after an easy score goes wrong.

The situation forces the pair to rely on each other as they attempt to survive on the dangerous side of Vice City.

This gives GTA 6 a more character-focused setup than simply presenting another collection of disconnected criminal missions.

Vice City Looks Bigger and More Detailed

The launch trailer once again showcases the game's version of Vice City, inspired by Miami and surrounded by the wider Leonida setting.

The footage features crowded beaches, roads, buildings, clubs, rural environments and a variety of other locations. The world appears designed to provide considerably more environmental variety than the traditional Vice City setting.

The trailer also highlights the large number of people and activities taking place throughout the game's world.

More Action and Heist Scenes

The new footage includes plenty of classic GTA action.

Fans can see Jason and Lucia involved in dangerous situations involving weapons, vehicles, police pursuits and apparent robberies. There are also scenes suggesting that players will take part in more coordinated operations involving both protagonists.

The trailer balances these action sequences with quieter moments between Jason and Lucia, emphasizing their relationship as an important part of the overall narrative.

The Trailer Was Captured on PS5

Rockstar says the GTA 6 launch trailer was captured entirely using in-game footage on PlayStation 5.

That makes the trailer particularly interesting for players wanting to see what the game looks like under actual console hardware rather than relying on pre-rendered footage.

The visuals show detailed character animations, busy environments, lighting effects and a highly detailed version of Vice City.

New Music From Justice

The launch trailer also introduces new music connected to GTA 6.

Rockstar's official announcement says the trailer features “Flower in a Hurricane,” a new song from electronic duo Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Justice is also contributing to the game's original score.

Music has always been an important part of the Grand Theft Auto experience, and GTA 6 appears to be continuing that tradition with an extensive soundtrack and in-game radio system.

GTA 6 Release Date Confirmed

Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026.

The game is currently confirmed for:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X
  • Xbox Series S

Rockstar's official GTA 6 website currently lists November 19, 2026, as the release date.

A PC release has not been officially announced by Rockstar at this point, so PC players should not treat rumored dates as confirmed.

GTA 6 Is Almost Here

After years of anticipation, GTA 6 is now entering the final stretch before its release.

The latest launch trailer gives fans a better understanding of Jason and Lucia, their troubled circumstances and the criminal conspiracy surrounding them. At the same time, Rockstar continues to keep many details of the game's missions and wider story under wraps.

With the release date set for November 19, GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of the biggest gaming launches of 2026.
