Transactions routed through Easypaisa and linked to several merchant and payment intermediary firms have reportedly faced delays and disruptions, raising concerns across Pakistan’s digital payments sector.
According to industry sources, the impact has been most visible in payments associated with SWICH, Simpaisa, ajarPay, RapidPay, Zero Technologies and Finza Tech, where some merchant transactions have experienced processing delays and settlement issues.
However, available information suggests that the situation does not amount to a nationwide Easypaisa outage. There are no indications that all wallet services, person-to-person transfers, or routine consumer transactions have been suspended across the country.
International payment processor dLocal has also flagged processing issues involving Easypaisa in Pakistan and said the matter is being investigated.
The disruption has emerged at a time when law enforcement agencies are increasing scrutiny of digital payment channels that may potentially be used for online gaming, gambling, suspicious financial activity, unauthorized fund transfers, and other illicit transactions.
Recent investigations by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have examined cases involving the alleged use of bank accounts, mobile wallets, and cryptocurrency-related channels for illegal online gaming and gambling platforms. Investigators have also looked into the movement of funds through multiple accounts, possible transaction layering, digital hawala and hundi systems, and the use of crypto assets including USDT.

Separately, the State Bank of Pakistan introduced a new regulatory framework in May 2026 for payment intermediaries and aggregators involved in certain payment and remittance arrangements. The framework tightened requirements related to documentation, compliance with foreign exchange rules, settlement procedures, and monitoring of financial flows.
Industry sources say the immediate concern is the delay in settlement of legitimate merchant transactions, leaving some businesses and customers uncertain over when pending payments and affected funds will be cleared.
The development also highlights a broader challenge for Pakistan’s fast-growing fintech and digital commerce ecosystem: how regulators and enforcement agencies can strengthen oversight without disrupting legitimate business activity.
Easypaisa was approached multiple times for comment on the matter. A company representative said the organization did not wish to comment at this stage.
