GTA 6 Preload Date Moved Forward: Rockstar Announces November 10 Download

Rockstar Games has changed its preload schedule for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), allowing players to download the highly anticipated game earlier than previously expected.

The digital preload will now begin on November 10, 2026, instead of the previously announced November 12 date. The updated schedule gives players additional time to download the massive game before its official November 19 release.

Rockstar confirmed the change through its official announcement, bringing some welcome news for fans who want to prepare their consoles ahead of launch.

GTA 6 Digital Preload Starts November 10

The updated preload schedule applies to both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, although the starting times are different.

Here is the confirmed schedule:

For PlayStation 5 owners, the download will become available at midnight on November 10 according to their local time zone.

Xbox players will follow a single worldwide schedule, with downloads beginning at midnight GMT.

For gamers in Pakistan, the Xbox preload starts at 5:00 AM PKT on November 10. PlayStation 5 users can begin downloading at midnight Pakistan time.

GTA 6 Requires Up to 212GB of Storage

Rockstar has also confirmed that GTA 6 will require up to 212GB of available storage, depending on the device.

This is a considerable amount of space for a single game, meaning players with limited console storage may need to remove some existing games before downloading it.

The large installation requirement makes preparation particularly important for owners of standard-storage PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S consoles.

Rockstar has advised players to ensure they have enough free space before the preload window opens.

When Will GTA 6 Be Released?

Moving the preload date forward does not change the game's official release schedule.

Grand Theft Auto VI is still scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for:

• PlayStation 5
• Xbox Series X
• Xbox Series S

Preloading simply allows players to download the game before launch. It does not provide early access, as the game will remain locked until its official release time.

GTA 6 Features Jason and Lucia in Leonida

The upcoming title follows two main characters, Jason and Lucia, who become involved in criminal activities across the fictional state of Leonida.

The game returns players to Vice City, Rockstar's fictional interpretation of Miami, while introducing a much larger surrounding world.

Rockstar's official description highlights a criminal conspiracy that brings Jason and Lucia closer together as they attempt to survive increasingly dangerous situations.

Players can also expect various activities across Leonida, including airboating, kayaking, gym workouts, and street and off-road racing.

How to Prepare for the GTA 6 Download

Players who have already pre-ordered the digital edition should check their console settings before November 10.

On PlayStation 5, automatic downloads should be enabled, and the console needs to remain powered on or in Rest Mode.

Xbox Series X|S owners should enable automatic updates and keep their consoles powered on or in Sleep mode.

It is also worth checking available storage and making sure the console has a stable internet connection.

GTA 6 Fans Get More Time Before Launch

Rockstar's decision to move the preload date forward gives players two additional days to prepare for the November 19 launch.

With an installation requirement of up to 212GB, downloading the game early could be particularly helpful for players with slower internet connections.

Fans can now start preparing their consoles for one of the most anticipated gaming releases of 2026.
