GTA 6 Preload Date Confirmed: Game Requires Up to 212GB of Storage

Rockstar Games has officially revealed when players can preload Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) ahead of its highly anticipated November release. The company has also confirmed that the game will require up to 212GB of available storage, making it one of the largest game downloads many console players will encounter.

According to Rockstar, digital preloading will begin on November 10, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This gives players more than a week to download the game before its worldwide launch on November 19.

The announcement also provides important information for players purchasing physical editions, although these versions will contain a digital download code rather than a traditional game disc.

When Can You Preload GTA 6?

Rockstar has confirmed different preload timings for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Here is the official schedule:

For players in Pakistan, the Xbox preload time of 12 AM GMT corresponds to 5 AM PKT on November 10. PlayStation 5 users can begin downloading at midnight local time in Pakistan.

Players who purchase digital editions can prepare their consoles for automatic downloads. Physical code-in-box buyers will need to obtain and redeem their download codes before starting the preload process.

GTA 6 Requires Up to 212GB of Storage

The biggest surprise in Rockstar's announcement is the game's storage requirement.

According to the official preload information, GTA 6 will require up to 212GB of available storage, depending on the device.

This is a substantial amount of space for a single game. Players with limited console storage may need to remove other games or unused applications before downloading GTA 6.

The large requirement is particularly important for owners of consoles with smaller internal storage capacities. Preparing storage in advance could help avoid installation problems when the preload becomes available.

Rockstar has advised players to make sure they have enough free space before attempting to download the game.

GTA 6 Physical Edition Will Not Include a Disc

Another important detail concerns the physical version of GTA 6.

Unlike traditional console releases, the boxed edition will not contain a playable game disc. Instead, buyers will receive a digital download code inside the package.

Rockstar says these code-in-box versions should become available through retailers starting November 12.

Players who receive their codes can redeem them and preload the game ahead of the official release.

This means that even customers purchasing a physical box will need an internet connection and sufficient storage to install the complete game.

GTA 6 Release Date and Supported Consoles

Rockstar has scheduled Grand Theft Auto VI for November 19, 2026.

At launch, the game will be available on:

• PlayStation 5
• Xbox Series X
• Xbox Series S

A PC release has not been officially announced with a confirmed launch date.

The upcoming game takes players to Leonida, Rockstar's fictional state inspired by Florida, including the returning location of Vice City.

How to Prepare Your Console for GTA 6

Players planning to download GTA 6 digitally should check a few settings before November 10.

PlayStation 5 users:

• Enable automatic downloads for pre-ordered games.
• Make sure the console has enough available storage.
• Keep the console powered on or in Rest Mode.

Xbox Series X|S users:

• Enable automatic updates and downloads.
• Check available storage space.
• Keep the console powered on or in Sleep mode.

These settings can help consoles download the game automatically when preloading becomes available.

GTA 6 Launch Is Getting Closer

After years of anticipation, GTA 6 is approaching its November 19 release. Rockstar's latest announcement gives players a clearer idea of how to prepare, including the preload schedule and substantial storage requirement.

With up to 212GB needed for installation, players should check their available console storage before November 10.

The remaining days will give fans plenty of time to prepare their consoles before finally entering the world of Leonida.
