Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts: How to Unlock All New Skins

Risk of Rain 2: Hallowed Concepts has introduced a collection of new character skins, giving players another reason to explore its dark new content. The DLC adds new challenges, areas, enemies, survivors, and progression systems, with most of the game's survivors receiving a new cosmetic reward.

The expansion launched on October 8, 2026, and requires the base game Risk of Rain 2.

If you're looking to collect every available Hallowed Concepts skin, you'll need to complete three different types of challenges.

Which Survivors Have New Hallowed Concepts Skins?

Almost every survivor can receive a new skin through the expansion's challenges. Operator and Drifter are the exceptions.

The skins are divided into three groups, with each group requiring a different objective.

Group A: Defeat the Soulbound Threshold Boss

The first group requires players to defeat the boss inside the Soulbound Threshold before the fourth Teleporter event.

The survivors in this group are:

• Acrid
• Commando
• Huntress
• Seeker
• Enforcer
• Chef

To begin, you'll need to obtain the N'tormat and at least one page. The N'tormat can be acquired through a Wake event or Trials.

Once you reach Stage Two and have the required item, the Shrine of Descent can appear. Activate the shrine and defeat the bosses that spawn.

After completing the necessary encounters, enter the portal leading to the Soulbound Threshold. Head toward the central console and fight through the bosses until the final encounter begins.

Defeating the final boss and completing the encounter will unlock the corresponding skins when you return to your run.

Group B: Defeat the Secret Boss

The second group is slightly more complicated because it requires players to discover and defeat a hidden boss.

This group includes:

• Artificer
• Engineer
• Bandit
• Captain
• Acolyte
• REX

You'll first need to follow the same general progression required to reach the Soulbound Threshold. However, you'll also need a Reincarnation page.

After reaching the central area and defeating the main boss, use the Reincarnation page to gain access to the hidden area behind the large door.

Inside, you'll encounter the secret boss. Defeat it successfully and return to your run to unlock the skins associated with this group.

The newly added Acolyte survivor is also part of this group.

Group C: Collect 10 or More Hexes

The final group uses a completely different requirement.

The survivors included are:

• False Son
• Loader
• Mercenary
• MUL-T
• Railgunner
• Void Fiend

For these skins, you need to complete a run while controlling at least 10 Hexes.

Hexes can be obtained from Hallowed Shrines that may appear after completing Teleporter events. Choosing the appropriate shrine option can grant multiple Hexes.

Continue collecting them until you reach the required total of 10. Once you've completed the run with 10 or more Hexes under your control, the relevant skins will become available.

Hallowed Concepts Adds More Than Skins

The new cosmetics are only one part of the Hallowed Concepts expansion. The DLC also introduces two new playable survivors: Acolyte and Enforcer.

Players can explore new regions of Petrichor V, encounter new enemies and bosses, take on special Trials, and experiment with Hexes and Hallowed Items. The expansion also introduces the N'tormat curio, whose pages can unlock powerful abilities with associated risks.

Hallowed Concepts also expands the game's darker N'Kuhana-themed lore and adds new areas including the returning Damp Caverns, Tenebrous Quagmire, and Lurid Basilica.

Final Thoughts

The Hallowed Concepts skins give Risk of Rain 2 players additional goals beyond simply completing standard runs. Whether you're fighting through the Soulbound Threshold, hunting down the secret boss, or collecting enough Hexes, each group offers a different challenge.

For completionists, unlocking all of the skins will require exploring much of what the new expansion has to offer.
